A Missed Legacy

the-issue-of-leaving-a-legacy-689x402

I enjoyed working in the corporate world.  Who wouldn’t?  You get paid to do something over and over and get paid on a regular basis.  Not to mention the occasional bonus and perks of being employed.

So what changed?  I guess I wanted to challenge myself and discover what’s  my life’s purpose.  It’s almost two years since I became a Financial Advisor and it was never easy to say the least but I find happiness in what I do.  Which brings me to a message my colleague shared to me last night.  Sharing this with you with my colleague’s permission.

Omg i just have to share this to you guys. Yung isang prospect client ko (admin staff dito samin) na dati ko ng nakausap to get a policy when i got coded as advisor in October. Inantay ko lang this chance na medyo marami na ako alam and na naka leave ako to sit down with them (as a group na sana para lahat na ng personnel dito sa amin) she even texted me last Christmas to greet me and say na she is looking forward to it and excited to get an insurance policy. Because she is pregnant, supposed to give birth Feb.

She passed away January 6 of pneumonia, she was 8mos pregnant. Found out about it just earlier when I dropped by their office to confirm the appointment. She was only 30y/o. I feel so bad 😞 i feel guilty na sana covered she couldve left something for her family.

It’s so true what my co-worker always says. We should never second-guess ourselves when going all out sa pagkliyente. Huwag isipin ang fear. Mas mahalaga ang needs ng client kaysa sa fear natin.

And just exactly what everything my manager said earlier today with my 1 on 1 with him to always think of the benefit of the client. So never let any opportunity pass by to make that impact to our clients’ lives.

Money Resolutions for 2016

2016 goals.jpg

Money Moves for 2016

The new year brings a promise of a fresh start for everyone.  New opportunities to get things right and move towards our short and long term goals.

Are New Year resolutions still practical?  Let’s admit it, we tend to make resolutions we know we’re bound to break.  Most of us would probably have “save more” and “spend less” on top of their list.  Sounds easy but harder to follow through right?

Don’t worry!  Here are money moves that can help you reach your financial goals faster:

Pay Off your Credit Card debts

Credit Card debts are the worst you can have.  This 2016 try to pay off as much debt on those plastics as you can.  Start from the card with the highest interest rate and work your way to the one with the least interest.

Create an Emergency Fund

It is important to set aside at least 3 months of your monthly expenses. This fund should be easily accessible in case of loss of income or as the name implies — emergencies.

Increase your Retirement Fund

You should set aside at least 10% of your monthly salary to fund your retirement.

Assess your Investments

Are your investments aligned with your goals and your investment appetite?  When was the last time you checked where your money is invested?  Maybe it’s time to do that this 2016.

Review your Insurance Coverage

Were there major life changes last 2015… like marriage, divorce or a child? Maybe it’s time to assess your insurance plans and beneficiaries. An average person will most likely get 7 life insurance policies his / her entire life because needs tend to increase when you add dependents.

Also make sure to review your beneficiaries. They might change after a major event in your life.

Housemaid to Beauty Queen

Janicel Lubina

Janicel Lubina, Bb. Pilipinas-International is a 19-year-old stunner taking up Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management at STI College as a scholar for winning Miss Bikini Philippines 2013. From her beginnings as a kasambahay (lit. housemaid) alongside with her mother, Lubina was spotted by a make-up artist who later became her handler to join beauty pageants. (source: Wikipedia)

She then went on to join and win other national beauty competitions until she eventually was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Miss International.

She delivered an emotional speech at the Miss International Competition as one of the Top 10 candidates that touched the hearts of netizens here and abroad.

“To represent the Philippines here in Miss International is a great honor and an achievement for me. As a simple woman who came from a poor family, my dream to have a better life for my family motivates me to never give up. At a young age, I had to work at the rice fields to help my parents while taking care of my brothers since my parents were working.

“Life is full of challenges and hardships but I never stopped dreaming and working hard to achieve my goals in life. I want to be an inspiration to young people that nothing is impossible. Keep following you dreams and have strong faith in God. If I become Miss International, I would like to share my story to the world that poverty is not a hindrance to achieve success in life,” she said.

Truly inspiring!
